Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Giana Tralongo, a social media and business strategist based in Orlando, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The goal of my business is to help women with online businesses simplify what they do so that it is actually easier and way more fun. My typical customer is an overthinking entrepreneur that has big, bold, brilliant ideas but is trying to do too many things at one time. I help them with time management, streamlining, and making their content creation a lot faster and more impactful.

Tell us about yourself

I've wanted to be an entrepreneur since I was 8 years old, dusting cans in my grandfather's grocery store. My business exists as it does now because I became a mom. After my first was born, I suffered from postpartum depression and a loss of my identity. Starting and growing a business that I was good at really brought me back to life. Working with other moms that want the best of both worlds - mom life and entrepreneurship - is really what motivates me. Plus, I have no shame in saying that I love making my own money too!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Surviving! In all seriousness, being a business owner is hard, and doing it in the online space is another level. There are so many ups, downs, and plateaus that sometimes riding the rollercoaster can wear you out. But getting up every day and thinking about the women I get to serve and that I am creating something so impactful makes that rollercoaster worth it.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, it's balancing my ambition and goals with the season of life that I am in. My kids are young, and I don't want to miss out on this time with them. As a business owner, the growth of your company is all within your own control - so learning when to push and when to slow down has been a big learning curve for me.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Great question - I love a good tip. I am going to gear this specifically to an online business.

  1. Create your business around YOU - your mission, your message & beliefs, and your lifestyle.
  2. Don't be afraid to try new things or change your mind. The online space is ever-changing, so there is so much opportunity to be creative!
  3. Get out of your comfort zone...like, A LOT. Growth and success doesn't come from playing small or staying where you are. This doesn't mean you need to jump out of a plan or invest $10k in a program - it could mean going and sitting at a new coffee shop instead of working from home. Changing your environment does wonders.
