#GoSoloStories: Nicole Henry

Hey, I'm Nicole Henry, and I run Nicole Henry, a counselling practice in London.

Tell us all about your business...

I have a private counselling practice. My customers are parents, I work with children and families to support their emotional wellbeing.

What's your background and motivation to get into the solopreneur life?

If I am honest, I did my degree in Psychology and counselling. I loved the counselling experience but didn't pinpoint my niche. Years later, after working with children in my church then going on to work in a school, I realized I enjoyed working with children. The counselling side of me then ignited.

I am motivated to support children and young people to see their transition, but to also give them a space and platform to share their story. Children and young people are amazing, they just need to be given some dedicated time to be heard so that they can grow and be nurtured with love and care.

As a solopreneur, what does success ultimately mean to you?

Success means impact and transformation! The more lives I come into contact with, the better. If the children take away one nugget that stays with them for the rest of their life, I will be very happy.

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a business today?

1. Make sure you love what you do!
2. Think about your vision and where you want it to go.
3. Believe in yourself!

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?

I work 4 days a week, I have allocated time slots that I work, 1 night a week and I don't work on the weekends. During the half term breaks, depending on how long it is, I will take half the time off to rest and do nothing.

Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and best business resources/books?

Kandi Burruss - She is a real boss lady with a family. Multiple streams of income and always has her hands in different projects.

Kubi Springer - Love her branding tips! She is amazing. Her book 'I Am My Brand' is fab!!

I read all the time! Here are book recommendations - Think and grow rich, Becoming, Eat that frog, Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter, 4 hour work week, Soar, The compound effect, The secret, The purpose driven life, Secrets of the millionaire mind.

For anyone looking to start a business tomorrow, what would be the number one bit of advice you'd give them

Ask yourself if you are passionate about it! Your passion will motivate you to reach your targets.
