Get to Where You Want to Go! - Gregg Sealey

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gregg Sealey, Founder of Gregg Sealey Coaching & Consulting LLC., located in Spokane, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a coach and consultant that specializes in healing conflicts. Sometimes that’s like being a fire extinguisher helping to put out fires. Sometimes I am like a thermostat turning down the temperature, and other times I’m like a surgeon suturing a wound to keep out foreign or destructive elements. With interpersonal conflict, this might seem obvious, but I also help heal conflicts that individuals or groups are having within themselves between the life they HAVE and the life they WANT (or meant to live).

Tell us about yourself

I love overcoming challenges, and I grab them and won’t let go until they’re utterly conquered. Because I am wired to overcome struggles by meeting challenges head-on, I began training for and competing in triathlons at the age of fifty, and I LOVE it! I love pushing myself and finding my perceived limits on the power of myself past those self-imposed boundaries. As a coach, I hope others tramp over their perceived limitations to get where they long to go. I feel exhilarated, proud, and powerful when I conquer challenges like this. I also love being a mysterious “adventure guide” that creates safe and sacred spaces.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been building my business with integrity and having it completely based on referrals and word-of-mouth advertising. I love serving people and having an impact on the world.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner has been doing the internal work to overcome my own internal resistance and patterns in order to get my business to have the kind of impact that I knew it could have on the world.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be really clear about why you were starting the business, and make sure your reason aligns with your personal sense of purpose in the world.
  2. Surround yourself with good people. Make sure you have friends, coaches, counselors, tax and legal advisors, and anyone else who can help champion your vision.
  3. Develop a plan to pay attention to and attend to your own nervous system and reactions in order for you to learn and grow on this journey.
