What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a family-owned distillery based in Hudson, WI, focusing on small-batch Bourbon, vodka, gin, and specialty spirits. Through our tasting room, local restaurants, bars, and liquor stores, our customers are Hudson residents and Minneapolis/St. Paul metro residents and visitors.
Tell us about yourself
The creative process and desire to create a legacy for my family in an area in which I have great interest (spirits) drove me to research, build, and open this distillery.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
March 29th will not only signal the completion of the first year of our new location but also complete our 5th year as an entity creating spirits. Making people happy is our biggest accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hundreds (if not thousands) of things I didn't know would matter. The incredible amount of pressure to make sure bills get paid and employees get paid on time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Research. Research. Research. Double the costs you estimate and more than double the time required to get there. Spend days, or better yet, WEEKS, with someone in the industry you're chasing who is willing to spend the time teaching you what is necessary.
