Boost Your Body Confidence - Heart Your Body

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Judi Craddock, Founder of Heart Your Body, located in Eastleigh, Southampton, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a Body Confidence Coach. I work with body-conscious women who are fed up wasting their life chasing the 'perfect' body. I help them accept the body they're in and get back their time, energy, and head space to focus on the things that matter most to them, like their family, career, and social life.

Tell us about yourself

My own body image struggles kept me in unhealthy relationships, held me back in my career, and stopped me from trying new things. Once I stopped chasing what I thought was my ideal body and learned to embrace the one I'm in, I started fully living my life.

Working with a coach helped transform the way I feel about myself and inspired me to train as a coach to help women just like me. I don't want women to waste their life in the way that I did, and so that motivates me every day to do the work I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been helping hundreds of women feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies through my coaching programme, The Body Confidence Journey, and my book, The Little Book of Body Confidence - 52 ways to feel good in your body.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is to believe in yourself and keep going, even when it feels like you're getting nowhere. There isn't such a thing as an 'overnight success' (contrary to what you might read on social media and elsewhere). It takes determination and consistent effort to make progress in your business, and it will probably be slower than you might think!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. I believe the most important thing you need to start and run a business is self-belief, so the most important work you can do is on your mindset. You can do this, for example, by reading self-development books, joining a business mastermind, or engaging a coach.
  2. Surround yourself with fellow business buddies. You'll find that friends and family who don't run a business probably won't 'get' what you do. So, find yourself some fellow business friends for accountability and support.
  3. There is so much you don't know when you start a business, and it can feel a bit overwhelming without support. Join a business membership group or get a mentor or coach to help you.
