The Sun, the Moon, and the Truth - Helping Moon Counseling

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Luna Medina-Wolf, owner of Helping Moon Counseling, P. A., located in Boca Raton, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Helping Moon Counseling is a mental health group practice. When we opened our family practice five years ago, it was all about helping people. Our team is diverse in order to help anyone seeking services, from children to teens, adults, seniors and couples. We have licensed therapists as well as student interns, so this way, there is accessible mental care for everyone!

Tell us about yourself

I grew up in Israel, the youngest (by far!) of five children within a hostile environment at home. I began volunteering at a young age and always knew I wanted to help others in some way. Social work helped me in my journey, and that helped me recognize what I wanted to be in the future. Knowing that I have an amazing team that is dedicated to helping others is what inspires me. People being able to make changes in their lives and feel better is the biggest motivation possible.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As business owners, our biggest accomplishment is the name we have in the community. Knowing people can come to us for help and positively talking about our commitment to helping is rewarding.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The biggest challenge is to ensure we have a good team to provide the highest quality service. Hiring the right support team can be difficult. Vetting the therapists on the team is the biggest thing we are proud of. We truly have a dedicated, compassionate, and professional team.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your vision and mission ahead of time and make sure to hire people who meet the same vision and mission.
  2. Push yourself and take calculated risks. Without taking some risks, you won’t be able to grow.
  3. Get the help you need. Don’t try to do it all on your own. It takes a village to build a successful business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

We are committed to help end the stigma behind mental health treatment. Especially now, it’s important to make sure we take care of ourselves and our mental health.
