What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hogan's Homestead is a splash of family, a sprinkle of fun, and a whole lot of sweet sticky maple syrup! Our Customers are anyone who loves pure maple syrup and enjoys trying something new, especially when it comes to our infused maple syrup line.
Tell us about yourself
Spencer + Erica Hogan started their homestead as a hobby and a dream that one day it would grow with their family. One tap turned into two, then turned into hundreds. When you serve our Maple Syrup at your table, you know that the Hogan's were the ones who went out in the cold, a hand tapped every tree, boiled the sap together, and personally bottled that syrup.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
It's hard to say what our biggest accomplishment is as a business owners as we seem to continue to set goals and reach them a lot quicker than we anticipated. I would say, as of now, the biggest accomplishment is becoming the youngest largest Maple Producer in Canada in under three years!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding downtime and making sure we actually have a stash pile of our own maple syrup in the house.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
One, trust your gut - you will have hard days. Two, If it was easy - everyone would do it. And Three, and might be the most important, Never take criticism from people you wouldn't take advice from!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Being a business owner isn't for everyone, and that's okay. It's also okay to fail because that is how we learn; as long as you can say you tried, no one can ever fault you!
