Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Daniel Caridi, Co-Founder and CEO of HomeField, located in Greenwich, CT, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

HomeField is a safe place where individuals, regardless of ability or experience, can learn new things, enjoy a workout, earn rewards, and receive community support for reaching new goals. Our online health and fitness community is inclusive and offers members daily live streams and on-demand fitness, health, and enrichment classes.

Tell us about yourself

About two years ago, I started volunteering at a local gym, teaching fitness to about five people with special needs. Due to the rising concern about the pandemic, the families decided that in-person classes were no longer an option. We turned to online classes, and just in my immediate area, classes skyrocketed to 80+ engaged and working out.

What motivates me every day is seeing people of all abilities achieving things they were once told they could never do or didn't try because they didn't think they could. It is encouraging and reminds me to never give up. Even if we're helping only one person, that's one life changed for the better.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating HomeField has been my biggest accomplishment. In the first two months of operation, HomeField partnered with the Special Olympics of CT, Abilis, a few public school systems, corporations, and onboarding individuals. We're running daily live streams and produced hundreds of videos. I can't wait to see what we can achieve in a year.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is having so many people count on you. It can be stressful as well as motivating. There are a lot of people depending on HomeField, and we have one shot at doing it right. I want to ensure that HomeField can touch the lives of everyone as fast as we can.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't be afraid to go for it.
  2. It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently. - Warren Buffet
  3. Never say no to meeting people. You never know who will introduce you to a new possibility.
