Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lisa Heintzelman, President of Illuminations Consulting, located in Harrisburg, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Through Illuminations Consulting, as a Business, Sales, & Leadership Coach, I invest my time and energy in empowering individuals and organizations to be successful. I work with entrepreneurs, business owners, commissioned professionals, direct sales, and network marketers to develop a strategy and sustain a competitive edge - the problems you solve, the value you bring, why do business with you - to drive marketing and sales success. This provides the opportunity for you to work not only "IN" your business but "ON" your business.

I celebrate the opportunity to work with business owners who are great at their craft and specialty by providing quality and value and also need to figure out all the business stuff like strategy, marketing, sales, and time. I also work with organizations to build dynamic management and sales teams focusing on efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity to save you time, energy, and dollars.

Tell us about yourself

Through my experience in early childhood, elementary, college education, and workforce development, I've had the opportunity to explore, implement, and teach best practices. When I noticed the disconnect between education, workforce, leadership, business, and entrepreneurship, I knew I needed to bridge that gap.

I am fascinated with the WHY, passion, and ideas of entrepreneurs and business owners and am driven by the dynamic of teams. I collaborate with individuals and teams to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.

My Mantra: Work Smart. Achieve Results. Celebrate Often!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is staying true to my passion for lifelong learning and living my vision to “talk the talk and walk the walk” while maximizing individual, team, and organizational potential. I celebrate the light bulb moments and successes of my clients!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I just wrote an article about this. Navigating the bright shiny objects of marketing! There is always something to be distracted by, explore, consider, try, implement, and reflect upon related to branding and marketing. The key is to develop and implement your strategy while staying consultative!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start - Begin by developing your strategy and competitive edge.
  2. Run - Utilize your strategy to drive your marketing and sales success.
  3. Grow - Hire employees, engage with virtual assistants, and partner with subcontractors.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?
