Eliminate Anxiety, Stop Fears & Phobias - Impact Hypnotherapy

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amy Ross, Founder of Impact Hypnotherapy, located in Highlands Ranch, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the founder and owner of Impact Hypnotherapy. I help adults, kids, and teens all resolve deep-seated emotional issues, overcome emotional triggers, release limiting beliefs, and quit self-sabotaging behaviors, so they can live life opened up to their fullest potential. My specialties include helping people learn to live pain-free, build emotional resiliency, and improve self-regulation and self-confidence. I love teaching people easy-to-apply "life hacks" that frees up their ever-fleeting bandwidth so that they can experience more peace and a bit more ease living in this fast-paced world. I work virtually 1:1 with clients or in groups all over the world, and I also do presentations for my local community on various topics so that access to health and wellness topics can be spread far and wide.

Tell us about yourself

I've had to navigate life living with chronic health issues: stage 4 endometriosis, traumatic pregnancy loss, and fertility issues. Medical professionals kept showing up incompetent, cold, and harmful in the space where I needed help with healing. I became fed up with feeling hopeless and mistrusting of the U.S. Health System. I went to see a Hypnotherapist who helped relax me and who educated me on the power of negative suggestions and negative self-talk that kept me feeling anxious and miserable. As I started to get pieces of my life back, I decided this was something powerful, and I wanted to learn how to help people this way. I wanted to do the work helping people take their lives back from what is regularly stripped from them through the ill-gotten gains of the U.S. Medical System. Teaching other people the tools I have learned is what motivates me every day. Helping people transform habits of depression, anxiety, stress, and overwhelm into tremendous self-love and a strong commitment to self-care means engaging in the most rebellious act of love I can to fight the effects of an inhumane and broken U.S. Healthcare system.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is FINALLY working in a business that allows me to follow my passion and do work my heart compels me to do. Sometimes I can't believe it, but I'm a business owner and a Hypnotherapist who gets to receive tremendous feedback from the people I've worked with on how our work together has helped them transform their journey through this life. I love that I get to see so many people at the very point of amazement and discovery where they just recognize that they are a precious gem whose gifts are what other people want and yearn for, without them having to work so hard at adding additional value to their already extraordinary value. I get to witness other people making powerful changes, and it's so fulfilling. Job satisfaction is something I have always wanted to have, and I got it!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Time management is one of the hardest things I struggle with. Time is a fleeting commodity, and I find myself always thinking about pace and timing in all areas of my work and personal life. I do a lot of work on this in my self-care routines.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Invest in good quality training to start, run, and grow your business. There are a lot of marketing businesses out there that want to push you into running your business with their methods and strategies, and those might not match with how you want to be seen in the world. Take time to ask what resources you need for you to be able to manage your business and look for ways to get well-equipped with those resources.
  2. Schedule frequent breaks. Take time to refresh, go on an artist date, look at pretty things, immerse yourself in your community, and consider how you might like to contribute to resolving some of the problems in your community.
  3. Welcome, invite, and include others into your business, even if you are a solopreneur. Spend time connecting with people, sharing about your business struggles and wins (equally), and invite them to celebrate with you when something has gone well. Reach out and expand your network, and increase your cheerleading squad. Set yourself up to have fun, being a fun business owner.
