Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chris Kim, Founder of Inspine Therapy, located in Coquitlam, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our clinic provides a variety of healthcare services that span different disciplines. These include physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture, kinesiology, clinical counseling, and Pilates. We serve a diverse population, ranging from infants to seniors and from weekend warriors to professional athletes.

Tell us about yourself

During my upbringing, I had the opportunity to participate in various sports, such as soccer, swimming, wrestling, and golf. However, these activities also exposed me to several injuries. Witnessing my colleagues' career-ending injuries and experiencing my own injuries motivated me to pursue a career in helping others recover from injuries.

In 2013, my life took a dramatic turn when I was involved in a severe car accident. The recovery process from the accident introduced me to manual therapy, which I developed a passion for. This experience further solidified my desire to help others in their recovery journey and inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building a positive reputation within the community has been a significant achievement for us. We take pride in giving back to the community by actively participating in various outreach programs, especially those focused on sports events.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

While we recognize that nothing comes easy, we firmly believe that everything is possible with the right mindset and approach. Undoubtedly, the pandemic posed immense challenges, but we remained steadfast in our faith and determination to turn the crisis into an opportunity for growth and innovation.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

From my experience as a business owner, I've learned that persistence, consistency, and sticking to fundamental principles can help new entrepreneurs succeed. While I certainly don't have all the answers, I hope that these tips can be of some value to those just starting out.
