Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in finance but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nick Bour, Founder and CEO of Inspire Wealth, located in Brighton, MI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a Full-Service Financial Planning Firm that believes in Financial Awareness and Financial Literacy. Basic financial principles aren't taught in most schools, and unless you learn specifically through a college course, most of our population are either learning through google search or Word of Mouth, which isn't always the best way to learn.

Tell us about yourself

I entered the Financial Services Industry because I wanted to help people avoid bad advice and to be able to enjoy all their years of saving and planning for Retirement. We only have one life, and my team and I want to give people the confidence that they can live their Retirement dream and vision. I want to help people create living memories with their families while they can so they can make a difference and create memories their future generations can enjoy.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is that I am still here and growing. I have had numerous roles and a few business partners in a few different firms, and even though I had to make tough decisions for my clients and my family to restart a different firm, I am still growing and plan to continue to add additional clients for another 3-5 yrs. I believe that service and the true financial planning experience are extremely important, and that is why every firm has a compacity; and I believe with my current team, and how I continue to build, that is my biggest accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

You have to be efficient at many things. I say efficient because you don't have to be great at everything, but you have to be a great leader, business person, decision maker, benefits coordinator, Marketer, and relationship manager. You have to be the one that can instill your vision in someone else and help your team achieve their best every day while still wanting to grow as a professional and as a person.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Research another company like the one you want to start and find a mentor or two that runs a company in different phases. Make sure you have marketing goals and how you plan on obtaining new customers. Make sure you have a plan for the plan, meaning trial and error might be an important piece for the first year or two, and you need to be prepared for that. Persistence is everything; you have to want this more than you have ever wanted anything before; I say that passion or that fire. What is going to drive you when you don't hit a goal you sought to achieve? How are you going to feel? Are you going to want to quit? Don't ever give up; keep pushing every day!!
