Developing Mindset - Melody Hossaini

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Melody Hossaini, Founder and CEO of InspirEngage International, located in England, United Kingdom.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

InspirEngage International is about people development! We believe the magic lies in people's mindsets and human potential. I deliver Mindset coaching programmes for individuals and companies, as well as do professional speaking. With a portfolio in 100 countries, we've reached 1m+ people.

What keeps me busy right now is the adult 1:1 Mindset programme 'Invest in Yourself' and 'Coaching for Kids' for 4-16-year-olds. This is delivered through Zoom, and we're continually impressed by the impact and level of growth our clients achieve in their own lives. Our impact is supporting people to be and do their best and be happy! That's the bottom line.

Tell us about yourself

I have lived in 4 countries and am interested in people's differences and why they do what they do. Passionate about social impact. At the age of 13, I became a co-founder of the UK Youth Parliament, a democratic youth organisation. From there, I understood that the key to development is developing our skills and mind. When we feel good and we believe, our potential is raised.

I set up InspirEngage at 23 and took it internationally from day 1. We've worked with major companies like Facebook, J.P. Morgan, and The New York Times, as well as delivered programmes for countless educational institutions such as Oxford University.

What motivates me is seeing the impact we create - how it changes people's course and the way they view the world and themselves. Recently I coached a 5-year-old whose mother said she'd been a selective mute at school for 2 years. After 8 sessions with me, working on her self-awareness, resilience in dealing with challenges, and general excitement toward growth, she received an award at school for putting her hand up and sharing her ideas! I was so pleased to see this! Reasons like this are why I tirelessly support people through our mindset programmes.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Partly, stories like I shared above, but also, I would say our biggest accomplishment lies in the social impact created at the heart of our programmes. As a social enterprise, we are always conscious of social responsibility. Business with purpose. It's key.

We are also proud of the breadth of our reach and projects - from delivering enterprise skills training in The Bahamas to shaping a youth constituency programme in the US to teaching life skills and mindset in Japan.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

When you love what you do, you want to do it all! But being selective and doing a few things very well is better than doing everything!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know who YOU are. Know what drives you and your strengths, and develop yourself and your mindset. Everything comes back to you.
  2. Don't keep it all a secret - build connections, put your message out, build connections! It snowballs.
  3. Not everything you do will work out - that's life! It's ok. Build your resilience, get advice, pick it up, and get going again. Time changes, and we need to change with it.
