The Future of Media - Inspiring Action Media Limited

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in digital media but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Imisi Adefala, digital consultant of Inspiring Action Media Limited, located in London, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a collective of young but experienced digital marketers and content creators based in the UK and US. Our new service, Content Farm, which will be launched soon, will enable brands to order professional lifestyle photos and videos at a fraction of the typical time and cost.

Tell us about yourself

It has always been my dream to be an entrepreneur before I even knew what that was. I started my first enterprise in primary school, charging other kids to play in my basketball society, and have been testing out different businesses ever since.

My main motivator is to create a business that is a force for good and to help others. At IAMedia, we don't just provide services to businesses, but we support charities, mentor new graduates, and support young people. Our mission is to make a positive change and be a pillar in the community.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I still have a long way to go! I am very grateful to all our clients that we can produce shoots in the US and UK and create innovative digital marketing campaigns. However, we are still just at the start, so I feel it is premature to answer that question.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Dealing with your emotions. At some point, you can be very confident in your ideas and the direction of the business, and then out of nowhere, doubt can creep in. Keeping focused and making sure you are reading and watching things to inspire you are crucial to staying on the right path.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Firstly, write a business plan. It can be monotonous, but it will clear your head and give you direction. Secondly, don't spend too long on your business plan. Do not procrastinate the inevitable at some point; you will have to take the leap! Finally, network! You need to tap into a community where you can share your successes and failures openly and honestly.
