What's your business, and who are your customers?
Jam Time is Massachusetts's premiere indoor play + enrichment center catering to kids crawling through the age of 6. Jam Time's four unique indoor playgrounds feature climbing structures, slides, imaginative play houses, play tables, a baby soft play area, + more.
Jam Time is open 7-days a week for open play with no membership required, so stop by anytime! Jam Time also offers private playtime, birthday parties, kid classes, and seasonal events.
Tell us about yourself
We love being a part of our community! From sponsoring events for local family networks, moms clubs, and non-profits to being a part of community festivals and events - meeting new families is what we love to do! And having families visit our indoor playground is just the icing on the cake!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growing our business to 4 locations over the past 12 years is our biggest accomplishment to date! We're currently remodeling our original Jam Time location and will be re-opening there in the fall. After we re-open that location, we plan to start planning our 5th Jam Time location!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The pandemic was extremely hard as a small business owner that caters to young children. Having that pressure of paying rent while being closed was one of the hardest things we had to overcome as a small business. But we started making hand sanitizer that got FDA approved to resell, and we were running classes outdoors and bringing characters like Mickey Mouse and Olaf to the outside of kid's homes for birthday visits and car parades - we really got creative during the pandemic, so that we were able to stay connected with families.
So really, as a small business owner, you need to be flexible and give the customers what they need.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
For anyone looking to start their own business, I would say to make sure you are passionate about the industry you plan to be in. You want to make sure you will not get bored and lose interest in your business. Also, stay connected with your clients on social media. It's a fun and easy way to find new customers and engage with your current customers.
Lastly, surround yourself with an amazing team, and don't be afraid to delegate! This took me a few years to learn, but I can not imagine having the success I do now without my amazing team!
