Soar Into a Healthier Lifestyle - Jan Ford

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jan Ford, a Health Motivator, teacher, and author based in Rosedale, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the author of Dancing with Unity, Transcending Racism Globally. I'm the Health Motivator who helps people with all types of conditions. I'm launching my course this month called Health 4 Holidays. This course is a 4-week class to help people during the holidays to maintain their weight while indulging in all the holiday festivities. I have a team of experts that will be sharing their tips on how to stay beautiful by bringing out their inner beauty. This course is for professional women over 40 who are busy and don't know where to start.

Tell us about yourself

I taught dance and science for 26 years in an international middle school in Brooklyn, New York. Working science into my dance program was very important to me. I always ate well, exercised, and read up on wellness on all levels. After the death of my parents and brothers, it was important for me to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Many people always ask me how I stay slim and trim in my 60s. I believe that beauty transcends from the inside out. Helping people has always been rewarding to me. Anything I can do to help people maintain and keep a wellness lifestyle is what I'm about.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Writing a book to help people see racism from God's point of view is one of my many accomplishments. I will be teaching my course soon. The next chapter of my life is bringing in new technology from Poland. Soon the first oxygenated tubs will be in New York.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is getting all the work done that is required for the business. I started two years ago when I was still working full-time. Publishing the book, creating the website, and now bringing in the tubs are very exciting, but they can be overwhelming.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Go to the experts. Get the correct information from people who can really help you. For a book, get a publicist. Outsource your logo, website, and marketing with people who can help you, so you don't waste time and money. Go to Youtube University to get an understanding of what you don't understand.
