Inspiring the Next Generation of Servant Leaders-Jason Weber

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in leadership development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jason Weber, founder of SLI Coaching and Consulting, located in Lubbock, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an executive coach and advisor that works with a wide range of leaders and teams who desire to improve their overall effectiveness. Utilizing servant leadership methodology, my practice aims at developing the whole person. At SLI Coaching and Consulting, I provide 1:1 executive and professional coaching, team coaching, team development, and speaking on a variety of leadership development topics, and I will also partner with organizations to develop in-house leader development programs for new employees all the way up to executive leadership.

My customers are generally executive leaders who see a need for their teams to work more effectively. I work with teams at all levels of an organization. My clients have ranged from presidents and CEO's down to front-line team members who aspire to become a leader.

Tell us about yourself

I have been in the leadership development field for the past 15 years. I have had the opportunity to work in a number of industries over the years, and what keeps me going is seeing how we can apply servant leadership methodology across any industry. What motivates me is being able to support leaders in finding clarity in their vision and helping them through their map of the world. I really enjoy being able to empower teams and leaders to own their behaviors so they can realize their highest level of success.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

One thing I am the proudest of is being able to connect with so many different industries. I have clients in the manufacturing field, city and state government, IT, business, real estate, construction, health care, and many more. The models and methodology used within SLI have a broad reach, and I am proud to be able to show continued success in so many different areas.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, the hardest thing is effectively marketing who I am and what my company does. There are so many different avenues to do this, and deciding which are the best can be a challenge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, know yourself. What are your values? What is your passion? Develop self-awareness early on so you can effectively set boundaries for the work you will be doing.

Second, don't lock yourself to one industry - unless your product or offering requires you to do so. It is amazing how many issues cross different lines of work.

Third, show up. The best thing you can do for your business is to show up and give it your all. Every day is a new day to promote and market yourself. There are times when it will be hard, but consistency will bring you through.
