Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in digital marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kathryn Aragon, Founder and CEO of Jcurve Agency, located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Jcurve Agency is a growth marketing agency that helps B2B companies improve traffic, leads, and customer retention.

Tell us about yourself

I began my career as a writer, but it's hard making a good living writing fiction, so I began writing for business. I realized quickly that this was a good fit. I'm strategic by nature, so I was always looking for ways to improve the outcome of my work. That led me down a rabbit hole of learning: marketing, sales, business growth, and revenue. The more I learned, the more I realized businesses are often doing marketing activities because they're "supposed to." They see another company achieving success, and they scramble to do whatever they're doing. But it doesn't always work. They struggle to get results because they're focused on activities rather than strategy. That's my mission. I help clients boost profits by stopping revenue leaks they may not be aware of.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I grew my business from zero to multiple six figures with no funding, mentorship, or hand-outs.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

There's no off-switch. When you run a business, you don't work a 40-hour week with benefits and two weeks of vacation. It's a nonstop rollercoaster.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  • First, don't put it off. If you have an idea you're passionate about, there's no better time than now to get started.
  • Second, focus on the problem you solve rather than you, your passion, or your product. If you're not solving a problem for a specific audience, you don't have anything to sell.
  • And finally, don't compare yourself to anyone else. It doesn't matter how fast someone else is growing, how much money they're making, or how they've structured your business. Your business is unique, and you'll grow it your way. That's going to look different from anyone else, and that's okay!
