Intuitive Business Advisor - Jennifer Jane Young

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Jane Young, Founder of The School of Intuitive Leadership, located in Cancun, Qroo, Mexico.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an Intuitive Business Advisor & founder of The School of Intuitive Leadership. I help impact-driven entrepreneurs with big dreams learn how to lead their business and its growth intuitively so they can experience more ease and flow in their work and experience the transformation that will elevate them to their next level of potential. I help them stop overthinking, stop working so hard and connect to their inner wisdom to make decisions from a place of clarity (instead of anxiety) and take actions from a place of empowerment (instead of urgency). I bring together the last 12 years of experience coaching and advising start-ups to multi-6 and 7-figure businesses and leading a community for the United Nations of 5000+ members to support my clients.

Tell us about yourself

I was really miserable in the traditional world. As a young adult, I was struggling to try to find a place in this world where I would feel truly fulfilled. No matter what course I took in school or the job I found, I was always suffering from not feeling like I was in the right place. It felt like I was walking in shoes that were too small for me.

After many attempts at trying to fit my round self into a square hole and being on the edge of burnout in my career, I took my summer vacation to do Yoga Teacher Training. Everything in my life began to make sense. Becoming a Yoga Teacher made me realize that I was born to be a leader. I continued to specialize, training as a Yoga Therapist, which helped me realize how much I loved coaching, and at one point, my intuition clearly led me to see that I was more passionate about running my business (off the yoga mat) than teaching yoga.

I started my little Yoga Business from scratch myself. I built my website, managed my social media, did my marketing, etc. I soon became known as the Yoga Teacher who knew how to run and grow a business and started supporting other wellness professionals in my community. I became passionate about helping entrepreneurs bring their visions to life and experience success and deep fulfillment.

Growth is my main motivator each day. I am excited to wake up and discover what that next level of my life/business will be and help other entrepreneurs move through that same transformation so they can bring their big, beautiful visions to life through entrepreneurship.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is to have never given up on those intuitive nudges, visions, and yearnings I had because today, I am living a life I once dreamed of, that is feeding my heart and soul and making the impact I desired. These visions once felt unattainable and completely crazy! My left brain told me to be realistic and drop those ideas. My right brain told me, "Hell yeah, let's run with them." Today I am proud to say that I say YES, and I have the freedom to run a business that is part spiritual, part practical, from Mexico with my two rescue dogs. I'm also really honored to be a United Nations Consultant.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I would say that it's learning to ride the wave of inconsistency and finding a strategy to be supported in moments when things are slow, or you are moving through change. It's easy to experience feast or famine in business which is why it has always been so important for me to offer practical support along with intuitive guidance. We need the right brain and the left brain to co-creating together. The right brain (intuition, creativity) should be the pilot, and the left brain (logic, practicality) should be the copilot. When we know how to make these two work seamlessly together and give them each the right role, we can experience beautiful flow and growth.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Always trust your gut before any business/marketing strategy or any coach/advisor.
  2. Get organized and make yourself a smart, solid financial plan even if there is not a lot of money coming in. Take your finances seriously from the start. I recommend reading Profit First.
  3. DO NOT do this alone. Always have support at the tip of your fingers (a coach, a mastermind, a book, a community, etc.) and build your network from the start. The people in your orbit are and always will be your biggest asset. This community will be your best support, your life raft, and become trusted supporters and advisors along your journey.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I would love to leave you all with my signature quote to inspire you to always trust your intuition:

"The actions you are not willing to take or the decisions you are not willing to make are the ones that will change your life."

This has proven to be true for my clients and me over and over again. The intuitive nudges you are receiving that you are resisting are the things that will expand your life in ways you could not imagine. And don't worry; your intuition never gives up on you. It will just get louder until you decide to listen to it.
