What's your business, and who are your customers?

I founded Legit Bread Company and Predominantly Paleo. It all started with writing recipes and slowly transitioned to offering tangible products for people to buy and make. Most of my customers are very health conscious or have health challenges they are trying to heal.

Tell us about yourself

I too, began with an autoimmune disease, more questions than answers from doctors, and a real drive to feel better. I dug into all types of treatment modalities, and ultimately changing my food, and my mentality was the biggest shift to help me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is transforming an idea into an actual product and bringing it to market. It's a lot of work and is often a painstaking process.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest part for me is not developing incredible products; it's getting the word out there to customers. As a self-funded small business, I do not have millions to invest in marketing, so I rely on word of mouth and social media to spread the word.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you are doing something different or better than what is already out there. Finding the solution you provide is what will help you stand out.
  2. It isn't necessarily important to "perfect" things before you begin. You'll learn as you go.
  3. Be open to feedback without feeling defeated.
