What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm an author and podcaster running a media business that helps people navigate what's next and move from friction to flow through smarter systems powered by Delightfully Tiny Teams. I love working with high-net growth and high-net freedom individuals both within companies and those who are running their own Heart-Based businesses.
Tell us about yourself
I started my first online platform, Life After College, in 2005 and loved connecting with others through the early days of social media. These days my passion is podcasting — it's so rewarding to listen to shows I love while I'm on the go, and with my two shows, I strive to help listeners feel like they're sitting at coffee with two friends, learning about ways to improve their life and work.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I'm proud of orienting around this central inquiry: How can we earn twice as much in half the time, with ease and joy, while serving the highest good? I often say I don't work full time; I work free time — which means saying no to "Shiny Shoulds" and working 20-25 hours each week.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Getting better at accepting the inevitable turbulence any owner faces, navigating constant uncertainty and cash flow conundrums with grace and faith that things will work out while implementing smarter systems to ensure that they do.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- From agile development: each time you repeat a task, take one step toward automating it.
- If something is draining your energy, stop doing it!
- Be aggressive about designing your calendar in a way that facilitates abundant deep work and uninterrupted focus time during your best energy windows.
