Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jin Ngan, Founder of Jin & Tonic Wellness, located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Jin & Tonic Wellness offers Chinese medical treatments. Acupuncture is the main treatment modality. I also do supplement methods such as herbal formulas, moxibustion, gua sha, and cupping.

My clients range from healthy people who use this medicine as their health maintenance to folks who would like to solve their health problems, e.g., infertility and post-stroke syndrome. I also help with post-surgical and post-traumatic injury rejuvenations.

Tell us about yourself

I come from a Chinese medical family. This medicine has been so engraved in my whole being, and I have never used any pharmaceutical drugs. I sew very well too. Back then, when I was old enough to pick a direction for myself, I was contemplating whether I should go into fashion design or Chinese medicine. I picked the latter. I am glad I did. This medicine is a blessing. I have helped many people get healthy and have their lives back again. That motivates me the most to keep doing what I do.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Serving the community with this medicine and bringing joy to people.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Government bureaucracy.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Using all the free resources, including social media and having a strong online presence.
  2. Simplifying management. Less is more. For example, if one could use a program or system to cover everything that is needed in the business, by all means, utilize it. Do not be penny wise and dollar foolish.
  3. Participating in networking events in person and/or online. Your mouth is your business. If you shut your mouth, your business shuts down. 😁
