Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Josmon George, Managing Partner of Chakolas Inc., located in Fishers, IN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Chakolas is a management consulting firm specializing in SAP. We offer SAP implementation and support services. We are a preferred vendor for SAP as well as Demand Driven Institute. Our customers are corporations that run SAP or plan to implement SAP, as well as companies that are interested in improving service levels while reducing inventory costs.

Tell us about yourself

I am a mechanical engineer and have worked in many areas of Manufacturing, Product Development, and Turn Key project management in the Automobile and Building Automation industry in the first ten years of my career. Later in 1996, I was introduced to SAP and started liking the system due to its vast amounts of business process integrations. After working as a consultant for five years, I realized that there are many complex business processes that could be addressed by thinking outside the box and combining different processes and strategies within the SAP space. This desire to help business to identify a streamlined business process by combining different areas of the SAP system is what gave birth to Chakolas in 2001. Since then, we have helped more than 25 major corporations to streamline their SAP system and, in some cases, have improved their sales by 30%+ in the first two months of a new SAP implementation. Later in 2018, SAP recognized our contributions to their customers and offered us a global vendor ship. In 2020, we started looking into the issue of supply chain interruptions caused by COVID-19 and entered into a partnership with Demand Driven Institute. With our partnership, we have helped some of our customers to improve their service levels to 98% while reducing their inventory by more than 30%. The satisfaction of the customer from the improvements we are able to make for them is what drives us.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My many satisfied customers are my biggest accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The business world is very competitive, and not all players have the same moral ethics. It is hard to see some companies take advantage of customers by providing very inexperienced consultants at a cheaper rate while compromising on quality. Also, as a small business, getting a direct vendor ship with major corporations is a challenge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Don't be afraid of failure and the word NO. Make every experience a learning opportunity. Try to improve every day.
