No Authority Human Design - Julia Schoen

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Julia Schoen, Founder of No Authority Human Design, located in New Orleans, LA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

No Authority Human Design offers best-in-class, in-depth Human Design readings, specializing in introducing the system to newcomers in a fun, clear, and easy-to-digest way. Human Design is a relatively new system that is still making its way into the mainstream, but those who know about it, instantly understand the power that this self-awareness technology has to offer. Human Design, much like Astrology, uses the language of the cosmos to create your chart. In a Human Design Reading, I spend about 1.5 hours with my client deciphering this chart. The goal of reading is to shift my customers away from their "shoulds" and empower them to learn how to make energetically correct decisions based on their unique profile. The outcome of most Human Design readings is a sense of empowerment, a permission slip to live your life the way that is right for you and not according to someone else's ideas of right and wrong.

Tell us about yourself

I spent eight years in a corporate environment doing a job that I loved, but as time went on, I felt more and more burnt out. When I first learned about Human Design, it felt like a lightbulb went off in my whole entire system, and I instantly knew that I had to take a deep dive into the system. After my first reading, I never felt so seen, understood, and validated. That reading gave me the confidence to make some difficult decisions and reorganize my life to better suit my unique energy. When I saw how effective following my strategy and design was, I decided to become a Human Design Analyst. My biggest motivation is the reaction that I get from my clients after I give them a reading, and I hope to get to do that for more and more people as time moves on.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

After my corporate job, I started a business with my best friend. We were able to create a beautiful brand that saw a lot of success. In starting No Authority, my biggest accomplishment is that it is all mine. I am such a team player and prefer working with others, so doing this all on my own, from the branding to the website to the readings, was a real shift for me. It feels good to see the fruits of your labor out in the world and know that the sky is the limit.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is balancing the vision you have for yourself and your brand with the baby steps that it takes to get there. We live in a society where everything is at your fingertips now. In business, it takes commitment and consistency, and growth and successes happen every day in tiny doses over time. It can be frustrating to be patient, but celebrating all of the little successes along the way reframes everything!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make a vision.
  2. Every single day, take a step toward that vision.
  3. Surround yourself with supportive and encouraging people.
