What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a financial services company providing investment management, retirement and financial planning, life, long-term care, and health insurance services. We are your "financial life coach." Our clients are people who have worked hard and been successful in their careers and are looking for guidance on how to transition to the next stages of their lives. We also help younger clients set themselves up for financial success as they move into maturity and career success.
Tell us about yourself
I came from the academic and non-profit worlds. I had taught part-time at the community college and university levels for many years. I also worked as the executive director of a non-profit student organization at CSULB and surrounding campuses. When I transitioned away from those positions, I came upon this field by accident. I wasn't sure I would like it at first, but I found that helping people deal with their financial issues was my passion, and I have been doing this for 26 years.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Seeing people I have helped and continue to help being happily retired and enjoying their lives. Having clients tell me they love the way my team and I take care of them.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Being so focused on my client's needs that I do not have time for my own self-care and family time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have a good business plan and review it often.
- Be ready to work long hours to create a successful business.
- Always be customer/client-focused. It is all about giving great service.
