Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverages but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kelly Scott, Owner of Kelly's Clean Kitchen, located in Laguna, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business Kelly's Clean Kitchen is a personal chef business where I cook for people and also teach people how to cook.

Tell us about yourself

I got started cooking when I had an eating disorder and didn't trust other food. I soon loved cooking and got over my ED, and went to culinary school. I am motivated to help others and have a passion for food and cooking.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Publishing my cookbook, "The Basics of Cooking," which teaches the fundamental techniques of cooking by breaking down the science, recipes, and video library full of lessons.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It can be lonely, everything falls on you, and everyone relies on you, so you always have to be performing at your best.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start it. There is never a perfect time to start, so just do it
  2. Do what makes you happy and gets you up in the morning. If I didn't have a passion for what I do, I would hate my life, so you better like it!
  3. Do things that push you out of your comfort zone. This is where growth happens.
