Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ken Rawlins, Founder & Personal Trainer of Ken Rawlins Fitness, located in Newport Beach, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a fitness entrepreneur from Newport Beach, CA. I own and operate Ken Rawlins Fitness as a body transformation specialist. My target demographic is Orange County housewives. I’m an exercise product developer with a history of licensing portable exercise products to large fitness manufacturing companies that assist with mass production, distribution, marketing, sales, etc. I developed the Booty Booster. It was ranked #1 β€˜π˜‰π˜¦π˜΄π˜΅ 𝘎𝘭𝘢𝘡𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘦𝘳𝘀π˜ͺ𝘴𝘦 π˜—π˜³π˜°π˜₯π˜Άπ˜€π˜΅β€™ on Google⁣⁣⁣.

Tell us about yourself

As one of Orange County’s top trainers, I work with superstar celebrities, professional athletes, and popular social media influencers with the goal of getting them in the best shape of their life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

After a traumatic car accident at the beginning of 2020, I was left with a broken back, broken bones, a lung contusion, and several other life-threatening injuries. I used this temporary setback to begin revolutionizing the fitness industry, and I put my experience and passion for working by launching SCULPT, a home & gym training app now available on the Apple Store.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

At one point, there was so much demand for my services that I didn’t have enough hours in the day to train my clients in person at Ken Rawlins Fitness. I created an app so I could reach as many people as possible without sacrificing one-on-one quality instruction. My goal is to help people train anytime, anywhere, and an online platform has allowed me to assist my clients around the globe.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My best advice for anyone looking to grow their business, learn from others with experience. Who do you admire? I strongly suggest you contact them and ask them how they got where they are today. This will save you time and money. You must have a business plan. Strategize where you want to go and ask yourself, how are you going to get there? Understand numbers and understand sales! Don’t just sell your product or service; know how to sell yourself.
