What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a photography business that is based out of Lake Tahoe, CA, with clients from families, couples, someone looking for portraits, and even pets! I have sessions that go all over the lake, whether someone wants an engagement session or an adventure session showing off the hobbies they love doing.
Tell us about yourself
For as long as I can, I have always been fascinated by photography, and the details photos can bring out. As I got older, I took some college courses here and there but never took them seriously as it was something I loved to do for fun. It wasn't until last year, when I got shoulder surgery and was laid up for months, that I started to take my camera out to get photographs of the wildlife around Tahoe. Months after that, a friend asked me to take her family photos, and just like that, I was in love. What I love most about capturing others is the happiness it brings them. Being able to see themselves as others see them, get self-confidence, and have photos to remember the times they are in, whether or not that's new, getting family members, showing off their accomplishments, or starting a business!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My accomplishment as a new business owner is being able to bring happiness, confidence, self-love, and an overall feeling of warmth and joy with their photos.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I would say that the hardest thing that comes with being a new business owner is structuring the business and going through the forms, contracts, and meetings that it takes to get your business up and going. Once I had done all that, it was a breeze!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My top 3 things I would tell anyone looking to start a new business is to know what you want, find out what it takes and just do it! I wish I had started this business years ago, but I am so grateful that I am here now.
