Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Keri Deziel, owner of K&D Photography, located in Howell, MI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a wedding and portrait photographer, and my clients are young couples and new parents.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business when I wanted to take better photos of my daughter. The hobby quickly turned into a passion for capturing special moments for friends and family and now paying clients. Seeing how much I learn and grow in my business every year keeps me motivated. I am constantly setting new goals each year.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Becoming profitable as a self-taught businesswoman and my business surviving COVID.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Setting boundaries would be the hardest. Making sure I am effectively serving my clients while also spending time with myself and my family. Trying not to get burnt out.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Make sure you have money to fall back on in the slower seasons, a good support system, and never to stop learning and growing.
