What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a mindset coach & business mentor who runs a booked-out, multi-six-figure 1:1 coaching practice that supports purpose-driven, service-based business owners with the clarity, mindset, strategy, and action that goes into building, growing, and sustainably scaling a profitable six, multi-six, and seven-figure plus business.

Tell us about yourself

I came about coaching and business very indirectly. I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit and great with money and making it - anyone who's had multiple profitable kid businesses or started investing at an early age knows what I mean! I've also always been fascinated with human behavior, the brain, and what makes us tick and motivates action, success, and money. I studied psychology in school and took this combination to Los Angeles to pursue my creative talents, where I spent a decade acting in over a dozen commercials and indie films. Acting schooled me in the art of marketing and sales since you're essentially a small business learning to sell your skills. It also taught me the grit needed for success. I hit a point where I stopped loving the business of acting, and as someone who knows and appreciates the importance of loving the process and journey in what you do, I knew it was time to move on. I picked up and "started over" in Manhattan, where I spent a few years working in the advertising world as a director's rep, where I further honed the art of marketing and selling without the ick and sleaze. This is when I stumbled upon the coaching world, fell head over heels for the transformative power of coaching, and immediately signed up for a year-long coach training program. Almost nine years later, here we are, and I've combined my unique history and skillset with mindset coaching to offer my holistic coaching approach to business to support clients to collect millions.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've supported a number of clients to scale - sustainably, often working less - to the million dollars plus mark, and countless clients get fully booked, replace their corporate salary and then some, successfully launch and sell out programs, and go from $0 to $100k, $0 -$250k, $0-$800k years. The booked-out businesses and money are all big wins, and I'm personally proud of my clients for the inner work they do to change their relationships with themselves and their money, for how they learn to stop hiding in plain sight and unapologetically show up and take up space, for the boundaries they learn to set, the time freedom they create that gives them the ability to travel more or have more time with their kiddos, and their willingness to drill into getting clear and building a simple process they can rinse and repeat to create the more tangible, external metrics.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I honestly think the trade-offs of being a business owner are pretty darn great, and I'd choose this path over and over and over again. I actually love this "hard" thing, but I believe business asks you to confront your own limitations and be willing to overcome yourself and your own BS over and over again. I think this is both the hardest thing and the best thing and gift because the growth as a person and in your business is so worth it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. There is no one-size-fits-all formula for business success; there isn't a secret you're missing, there isn't an entrepreneurial guidebook you're missing, and there isn't a path or strategy you're "supposed" to follow. You get to make your own rules and do things your way when it comes to business and making wild amounts of money - that's the beauty of entrepreneurialism. That being said, if you don't know what "your way" or "your rules" are - permission to start anyway, do it messy, get it "wrong," and find out what's right for you along the way. Business and money don't care about your perfection, they care about you showing up consistently, and that kind of action will always lead to clarity of what your path and your way to six and seven figures plus are.
  2. Focus on building a solid business foundation, and it will support you to scale to any height. Business is simple, strategy is simple, and it's our brains that want to make things complicated. Seven years into the business, I'm still doing pretty much the same things I was in year one. The difference at this stage and revenue isn't what I'm doing; it's how long I've been doing it and my mastery, the benefits of the compound effect, and a willingness to continue to look for opportunities to refine and do basics better.
  3. Learn to manage your mind and make decisions from neutral. The quality of your thoughts and your ability to manage your thoughts is the number one determiner of your success. You and I can probably agree negative thinking doesn't serve anyone. And, while positivity is powerful and has its many merits and benefits, there can also be a shadow side, like overlooking challenges your business needs you to address, and even toxicity when it comes to positivity. I've found a millionaire-minded CEO is one that's able to manage their mind to manage their business by knowing how to get to neutral and make decisions and take action from neutral.
