Your Life, Your Business, Your Way - Kim Ravida Coaching

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kim Ravida, Founder of Kim Ravida Coaching, located in Groveland, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

At Kim Ravida Coaching, I am in the business of helping service-based small business owners capture more revenue and recapture time. It is my sole and soul purpose to see my clients succeed all in a way that feels good to them, fits their lifestyle, and has them enjoying both their life and their business. While business is about making money, I also want my clients to have fun and step into the amazing individuals they are to make the world a better place for all of us.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been someone who loves to help others. I went to college for Business Administration in the hopes of working with a marketing firm. Instead, I found a love of fitness. Within that, I found that I loved teaching and coaching. I especially loved helping women create healthy and fit lifestyles so that they could live their lives the way they wanted to and feel amazing about themselves. Along the way, I had a client who had recently started a service-based business and told me she liked what I was doing with my business and that I would help her build her business. Coming from a business background and having been trained as a Certified Professional Coach, I said yes and never looked back. My motivation comes from helping others. Especially seeing my women-owned businesses thrive. Even though I've had numerous clients make 6-figures consistently, what is most exciting about what I do is watching my clients shine. Often when I begin working with someone, they come to me feeling defeated and unsure if they can make their business a success. As we work together, I begin to see the light come into their eyes as their confidence grows, and that is by far the best part of what I do. Watching someone else succeed is what motivates me each day!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

This is hard to answer. My biggest accomplishment, I'd say, is that after a lot of trial and error and "throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what would stick," I finally figured out special steps, which I call pillars, that, when put into place, makes running a business profitable. Before I knew this, I wasted a lot of time, money, and energy trying to figure it all out. Even following other experts/business owners didn't help. It was only when I realized what would work for me and my business that I was able to see my dreams come true. It's something I work on with my own clients. We need to be true to ourselves first. I fully believe in our life, our business, and our way.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Juggling everything, there is to do to build, grow and run a business. That and not being distracted by bright shiny objects.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient. It takes a lot of planning, implementing, and waiting to see results. So many business owners just jump in here and there without a clear path of what they are doing and what they really want to have to happen for their business and then are frustrated because "nothing seems to work."
  2. Be diligent; know what it is you are in the business of, who your ideal clients and customers are, and what you are specifically doing to make your business successful. Track your metrics; it's the only way to really know if you are succeeding.
  3. Remember why you went into business in the first place. Starting, running, and growing a business is exciting and fun. Stay in the excitement of what you are doing and what you are creating. And a bonus tip is to be sure you know your numbers. I've worked with so many small business owners who, once they finally run their numbers, have been shocked that they lose money. If you have no clue, find an accountant who will help you see exactly what your business is costing you. You want your business to bring you financial success too.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Yes, don't be afraid to ask and/or pay for help. Be it a coach, consultant, assistant, or someone who knows technology. Trying to do it all, especially when you have no idea what it is to do, is a major time and (in the end, money) waste. Being in business means you are the chief strategist. It's key for you to stay out of the weeds. When you become more of the "do-er" of everything, you have ceased to own a business and have fallen into being your employee. And above all, be sure to have fun. If you have chosen to start and run a business, you get to build and create an amazing life for yourself.
