Empowering Leaders for Change - Kimberland Jackson

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kimberland Jackson, Founder of Empowering Leaders for Change, located in Brooklyn, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a Certified Life Coach specializing in helping folx unlock their unique God-given purpose so they can walk out of their destiny. I work primarily with the BIPOC community and anyone who has a spiritual practice that allows them to connect to a deeper purpose.

Tell us about yourself

My business was birthed out of my personal journey to escape an abusive relationship. As I worked with my therapist to develop a deep love and understanding of who I was and how I was created, this process came to life. What I take the most joy in is seeing people release the shame they have carried as they understand how they were uniquely designed and free themselves from the word curses that have been spoken over their lives by those who didn't see the totality of their gifts and callings. My greatest joy is seeing folx who were once driven by fear embrace the totality of themselves and take BOLD steps that they would never have imagined prior to us working together.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far has been in helping hundreds of people plan out and begin to walk out their dreams. I've seen people go from second-guessing every part of their lives to walking boldly and confidently, knowing they are changing their slice of the world.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me has been deciding how to take tasks off my plate that take up precious brain power I could be using to operate in my zone of genius.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do the personal work to understand how you were designed and who you were called to help. When you know confidently who your "people" are and what your unique mission is, you can operate free from fear.
  2. Find a supportive circle that can both challenge and inspire you. None of us can make it in this world alone. We need people! So find your people.
  3. Why are you getting into the business? Keeping asking yourself this question until you get to a person-centered response. We all want to make an income, but making an impact is the real reason to be in business. So what impact are you seeking to make that will change your slice of the world?
