Live Healthy, Live Happy - Kombucha Town

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chris McCoy, founder, and CEO of Kombucha Town, located in Bellingham, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Kombucha Town is on a mission to enable healthy, active lifestyles and restore the environment all at once! We brew the healthiest, most delicious Adventures Beverages that are packed with all organic antioxidants and pro-biotics that not only taste great but make you feel great.

Tell us about yourself

I originally started Kombucha Town so that I could have the flexibility to care for my mother, who had recently been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's. She was able to help with simple parts of the business the first few years and since has been living happily and comfortably in an adult family home in Bellingham, WA. This adversity fueled my passion for holistic and healthy living; Kombucha and other living beverages are a perfect way for me to be able to improve the quality of life for our consumers and give back to the environment at the same time!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building a nationwide consumer packaged goods brand that sticks to its social and environmental core values.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Taking care of our team and our customers no matter what is a top priority and huge responsibility. Cultivating that community along with making only the best quality products on the market makes the struggle very real, but the rewards are well worth it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Build a support network and evaluate your concept before you launch.
  2. Develop a minimum viable product and collect as much feedback as you can before going to market.
  3. Focus on quality of customers over quantity of customers.
