What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine. We specialize in resolving most chronic and difficult cases. Examples are peripheral neuropathy, post-stroke recovery, fertility, and severe allergies.
Tell us about yourself
This year I am celebrating my 28th year in the healthcare field. I have done lots of schooling. I hold a Master's in Pharmaceutical Science. While working in a pharmacy, I've run into a situation where my son would cry all day in preschool. He was very attached to his babysitter. We tried part-time preschool, but it didn't work out with my work, and I had to quit. Soon enough, sitting at home, I decided to start studying Naturopathic Medicine and then Acupuncture. That's what brought me to open my own clinic. I really like to make a difference in people's lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
This year I decided to help as many people as I could. I had to expand, and we are opening one of the largest Acupuncture Clinics on the North Shore of Chicago. We are opening a 9-room Acupuncture Clinic in Deerfield.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
It's not easy. I have to "wear" and be in all shoes. Working with people, figuring out the insurance world, treating people, knowing everything about the business, lots of technical stuff.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You have to have a warm heart to be able to truly help people.
- Be passionate about your business.
- Do all that it takes.
- Give more, take less.
