What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a family-owned eyelash extension studio in Indianapolis. We started doing lashes out of our home in 2009 and moved to brick and mortar 6 years later. We still have many of the original clients. Our clients are the best around!! Loyal, helpful, loving, and giving, they have become part of our family.
Tell us about yourself
I was at home in Utah in 2009 when I noticed women's eyes were popping!! I asked around and ended up getting a set to try. Loved them from the first glance and got trained that same trip. When I came home to Indy, no one was doing this type of lash. I love helping people feel good about themselves— lashes don't seem to be that big of a deal until you try them; they make all the difference in the world. I want to leave a legacy to my children.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We lobbied the legislature for 7 years to change the laws in Indiana about eyelash extensions. We are now an accredited school with the state of Indiana to teach eyelash extensions.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Not being able to please everyone. I am a doer and a pleaser, so it's hard when it doesn't work out that way.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Give yourself time.
- Build a good support team.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
This business has changed mine and my family's life. I have five kids, and three of them work for me as of now. I love what I do and the people I work with every day.
