Create Your Dream Business - Last Brand Standing

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kathy Brunner, Owner of Last Brand Standing, located in Woodstock, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I coach people on how to become an entrepreneur and grow thriving businesses. Most of my clients have been working as employees or are in a career they have burned out from and are looking to create a business doing what they love to do.

Tell us about yourself

I've been a business owner for over 30 years. Once you decide to go into business for yourself, you realize the freedom you have about where you work, who you work with, when you work, and how much you can earn. My first business was started after I had two small children and did not want to return to employment that would not be able to work with me at setting a schedule and creating an atmosphere that allowed me to be able to be with my children as much as I wanted. I am blessed to be able to watch how showing someone how to grow a side income or create a business and leave their day job can change their life, and that is extremely motivating to me as I work with my clients daily.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think being a business owner has opened up many doors for me as a speaker, author, and coach and allowed me to use my expertise to pass that same knowledge on to others who hope to do the same.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Resiliency is a major requirement of owning a business. You must know how to adapt and keep your business thriving during low or slow-growth periods. You need to remember that you will be calling all the shots as the business owner, so while that can sound rather appealing, it can also be quite daunting to be ultimately responsible for every aspect of your business( hiring, firing, growth, liabilities, profit/loss, etc.)

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your homework. Learn how to determine if your idea for starting a business will "fly."
  2. Don't be afraid to ask for help. People with a team work more effectively.
  3. Don't start a business just to make money. Start a business to make your life better.
