Everyone Deserves to Heal and Be Loved - Lesley Goth

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lesley Goth, owner of Denver Family Counseling Services, LLC, located in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Denver Family Counseling Services is a counseling practice servicing adults and children who struggle with mental health needs. Our providers are licensed and have a variety of specialties that include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, PTSD, CPTSD, relationship issues, grief, substance abuse, domestic violence, and family dynamics. We are mostly telehealth and can service people throughout all of Colorado.

Tell us about yourself

I, Lesley Goth, PsyD, began Denver Family Counseling Services in 2004. My initial specialty was in eating disorders, and it quickly expanded to trauma and complex trauma cases. My passion for helping as many people as possible is what spurred me to bring in more providers that can offer the same help, care, and support that I can. The motivation that we all share here at this practice is to truly care about our clients. We meet each client where they are and provide the resources and safety needed for healing to be successful.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Hands down, it is the relationships I've been able to establish with my clients that have contributed to amazing healing. I'm privileged every day that I get to do this work. I'm in awe of the transformations that take place right before my eyes.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is making sure I'm managing my time and taking great care of myself. Burnout is very prevalent in this industry, so making sure I monitor that is important so that I can keep showing up and being present with my clients. Also, make sure the other providers value their self-care as well!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The first tip is to make sure everything is set up legally. Have a good attorney and CPA to help you start off on the right food.

The second tip is to make sure you're getting the support needed from family, friends, and colleagues. Having cheerleaders and positive energy in your life is so important.

Third, do your research and make sure you're filling a need that really serves other people. The more you help others, the more your life expands and feels fulfilling!
