What's your business, and who are your customers?
I create home accessories and tabletop decorations like hand-painted cork coasters, resin charcuterie boards, serving trays, and unique napkin rings to set a beautiful table for every occasion, to name a few. My customers are those who like to give or have unique handmade pieces and who like to set a nice table to enjoy with family or friends.
Tell us about yourself
I started my business because I had many wine corks stored at home. I didn't know where to put them anymore, so I started making glass holders with wine corks for my relatives' Christmas gifts, and after that, everyone wanted cup holders.
Doing what I love, doing this, is like therapy for me. And being able to spend quality time with my kids when I'm home keeps me motivated.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
A few years ago, in my country, the Dominican Republic, I taught several courses so that people who love wine and crafts could learn how to make cup holders with wine corks, together with a large wine importing company from my country. We did a series of Crafts & Wine for a month.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Try to maximize time, organize myself every day in the best way, and find a balance to take time for the business, my children, husband, and home.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Stay focused on your goals.
- Be consistent.
- Hustle hard but find balance.
