Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Clara Botero, Founder of Lucky Teeth, located in Umatilla, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is to share knowledge and offer a solution for clean oral health. We have products that usually have a huge impact on a person's health. By using an all-organic, clean formula, you are nourishing your body and mouth, especially preventing disease and problems from arising. Our customers are those who are looking to improve their oral health, starting the road to a more conscious healthy lifestyle, or simply those who love to use products that work.

Tell us about yourself

The market is filled with oral care products that advertise "organic" and "natural" on their label, misleading customers who still believe in advertisement claims. Once you go to read the ingredients, the formulas are filled with preservatives and questionable "healthy" ingredients to satisfy the convenience of a market that does not want to educate themselves. Lucky Teeth was born from the need to find a "perfectly clean" product that contained no fillers, preservatives, or any binding agents. We sure had no convenience in mind, and the road has been one of many surprises in finding that things made the right way are surely more challenging, which we have learned to love.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To stay true to our initial vision. We have not once compromised our formulas or values as a person or company for the bucks, convenience, or easy. We want to make a difference in people's lives. We have a product that is part of people's daily routine, and that is precious! What goes in our formulas nourishes and helps you stay healthy.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Keeping moving as fast as technology does in a world that is bombarded with so much information.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Love what you do first. Do not start something because it will make you lots of money. Start something because it makes you happy and has an impact on many.
  2. Follow your intuition. Stop thinking that you need to do all that experts say in order to be successful. Connect with yourself and then do.
  3. Be constant. Do a little every day until that sums up success.
