Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Flaminia Assirelli, owner of Mama Fla, LLC, located in Idaho Falls, ID, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are preparing every day fresh pasta, lasagna, and many sauces from scratch, importing the best quality ingredients from Italy. We have opened an elegant and authentic Italian restaurant on the Snake River falls, but we also are catering, selling take & bake products, and making farmers markets around the state of Idaho and Wyoming.

Tell us about yourself

In Rome, Italy, I have been a lawyer for over 20 years, but always with a passion for Italian cuisine. In 2007, I started a two-year culinary school and had a professional experience in different important restaurants. When we arrived in Idaho Falls for my husband's business in 2019, I decided that was a great opportunity to bring my experience and all the Italian flavors to the American people.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Customer care and satisfaction is my daily accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The management of the employees is hard and very different from my country, where it's easy to find stable and reliable working teams.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, understand the market needs, then offer a great product and service, and take care of keeping the expenses low.
