Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marquisha Frost, Founder of Marquisha&Co., located in Omaha, NE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have a life-coaching and counseling consultancy that prioritizes women's needs, healing, and improvement. In addition to life coaching and counseling services, I offer self-improvement products such as planners, workbooks, and journals to help others along their journey toward becoming their best possible selves.

Tell us about yourself

I have always been devoted to the improvement of self and others. It feels and comes naturally to me. Particularly for Marquisha&Co., I was pregnant, and I felt that I was having a daughter. I wasn't sure what the sex of my baby was going to be, but I was sure it was a girl. I started thinking a lot more about how to become a better version of myself for her. One of the most prevalent ways I wanted to be better for her was by connecting with other women and helping them to be their best selves through prioritizing self and healing, but also by being in community with one another.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is literally and figuratively changing and saving lives. I feel fortunate to be a part of the journey that leads people to their best possible selves.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is boundaries. It takes a lot of time and energy to ensure that family, friends, and clients function within the boundaries that are established, and that also allows me time to take care of and prioritize myself.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient with yourself: give yourself time to work through all that businesses require and extend grace to yourself so that you're able to sustain yourself and your business.
  2. Develop and protect your brand: make sure that all that you do and all you're connected to is in alignment with your brand and protect that by any means.
  3. Whatever it is you do, do it well, and what you don't do well, don't do at all.
