What's your business, and who are your customers?
Mini Anna Photography - Maternity, Newborn, Family, Pet, and Headshot Photographer. My customers are families with young children & expecting families.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a single mom to a human troublemaker and two furry hungry monsters. First-generation immigrant from Indonesia. My passion for photography started when I was traveling in China over 20 years ago. A friend lent me a camera, and I've never put it down ever since. I feel very lucky to do what I love for a living and get to meet so many wonderful families over the years through my business.
Being a mom has taught me the value of family and how important it is to document those special moments. My own family is a constant source of inspiration and motivation for me. Watching families light up with happiness as they see their photographs for the first time is another big motivator for me. It is a privilege to be able to capture memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I started my business while I was going through postpartum depression, then divorce, raising my young son almost by myself, and feeling alone as my family is 8000 miles away. But I survived it all, and I came out of it a different person: happy, grateful, connected to the community, and proud of the company I've built by myself.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Juggling life while wearing 100 hats at the same time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
To start: Be prepared to work super hard. To run: Make sure you take breaks to keep your sanity intact. To grow: Learn to delegate.
