A Day Centered On What Matters Most- Mirona Photographie

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Mirona Ciungara, of Mirona Photographie based in Montréal, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I run an elopement photography business based in Montréal, Canada. I help outdoorsy couples who don't see themselves in the big traditional weddings have an intimate wedding celebration that feels like them.

Tell us about yourself

What first drew me into intimate weddings is the immense impact I could have on someone's experience on one of the most important days of their life. Planning an elopement or intimate wedding in Québec can sometimes be such a lonely and stressful process, and being able to guide my couples into creating a day that truly celebrates their union and their relationship is a huge honor. Seeing them be inspired to redefine the way they want to celebrate their wedding day is what gets me up in the morning.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is having multiple couples email me saying that the content I provided about elopements and intimate weddings made them realize that a big traditional wedding wasn't for them and that they are now planning something more intimate for themselves. This is why I'm doing what I'm doing!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being a solopreneur or a business owner is such a lonely experience. One of the things that helped my business grow tremendously was finding accountability partners and people who had the same goals as me, with whom I could share my thoughts, ideas, and struggles on a regular basis. Being able to brainstorm solutions with someone that understands my industry is key.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Listen to what your audience needs.
  2. Create a client experience that solves your client's problems in a unique way. You don't have to do the same as everybody else.
  3. Surround yourself with people with whom you can grow together.
