What's your business, and who are your customers?

Miss A is a DTC Beauty and Lifestyle brand. We originally started as an e-commerce brand in 2013, and in 2016 we opened our first Brick and Mortar store in Dallas, TX! We sell makeup, skincare, accessories, jewelry, and so much more, all starting at $1! Today we have over 5 million customers and over 20 stores across two states! The Miss A Customer is anyone who loves beauty and fashion and someone who loves good value!

Tell us about yourself

I started working on the idea of Miss A in 2012 and launched the website in 2013. This year is our ten-year anniversary! There have been difficult times along the journey, but every day my team motivates me, and our customers motivate me to create better products and the best shopping experience for them!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is that we now have over 20 stores (with ten more opening in 2023) where I can see customers shop with so much fun, and they absolutely love the products that Miss A offers at the low price point. It is the best feeling to see someone so happy to use the products that you created!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is building a strong team! As a business owner, it gets to a point where you cannot do everything on your own, and you have to start delegating work to others. Finding the people who believe in your company and your vision is so valuable but also really hard at the same time. But with an incredible team, you can do anything! Today, we have over 300 dedicated employees who work at Miss A!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you have a strong presence on Social Media.
  2. Make sure your product is different than what's already out there and that it brings some kind of value to the customer.
  3. Find talented people in all the positions that you can't do and believe in them!
