For People Who Hate 'Plain' Water - MixSupps

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and supplements but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Michael Roller, CEO of MixSupps, located in Ephraim, UT, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a health-focused supplement brand, MixSupps, offering innovative, high-quality products designed to improve our customers' overall well-being. We currently have three flagship products that cater to a wide range of health and wellness needs:

  • Ganbaru Energy is a non-stimulant energy drink mix formulated to enhance natural energy, mental focus, memory, and physical endurance. It achieves this by combining five clinically studied ingredients that work together to optimize performance.
  • One-Shot Water Amplifier is an all-in-one electrolyte, immunity, and fiber boost designed to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, dehydration, and constipation. It also improves immune function with a unique blend of water, essential minerals, and immune-supporting nutrients.
  • Little Sh!ts is a specially formulated blend of resistant dextrin fiber and magnesium compounds that promote gut health, digestion, and regularity. This easy-to-mix drink is a convenient solution for those struggling with digestive issues.

Our products are carefully crafted to taste great and mix easily with water. Our typical customers are busy parents, executives, health enthusiasts, or seniors looking for convenient solutions to support their health and fitness goals.

Tell us about yourself

My journey began with my passion for health and fitness, which I pursued through my education and professional experiences as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Over the years, I noticed that many of my clients faced similar challenges in achieving their goals. That's when I decided to start my own supplement company to address these common obstacles and provide effective, convenient solutions. Creating these products was inspired by the real-world struggles I saw my clients experience. I wanted to develop solutions that would make a tangible difference in their lives and help them reach their health and wellness goals more easily. What motivates me each day is the knowledge that I am making a positive impact on people's lives through my work. I genuinely love helping others succeed, and that drives me to continuously innovate and improve our products to better serve our customers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is expanding my reach and impact by helping a larger number of people through our products. As a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, I was able to help clients on a one-on-one basis or in small groups. However, with the creation of our supplement brand, I have been able to scale the positive impact I make on people's health and wellness. By developing effective and convenient solutions to common challenges, I'm proud to say that our products have empowered many more individuals to achieve their health and fitness goals than I could have reached through personal training alone.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things I've faced as a business owner is learning to be decisive and trusting my instincts. In the early stages of running my business, I often found myself spending too much time in "research mode" and hesitating to make decisions quickly. This dragged out implementing changes or improvements that could have benefited my business much sooner. I learned the importance of trusting my gut instincts because ignoring them was expensive and painful. Over time, I've become more confident in my decision-making and have learned to strike a balance between thorough research and swift action while also trusting my gut feelings as an essential part of the process.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Surround yourself with smart, honest, and successful people. Building a strong support network of individuals with diverse skills and experiences can provide valuable guidance and inspiration. Those connections will not only help you make better decisions but also keep you accountable as you work towards your goals.
  2. Start now, and don't wait for the perfect moment. If your idea seems too big to launch quickly, scale it down to something you could start today and start building it step by step. Test your concept, learn from the experience, and gradually expand your business toward your original idea.
  3. Trust your instincts when making decisions about your brand, team, and message. Your gut feelings can often help you to avoid problems further down the road. Even if you occasionally make mistakes doing that, you'll learn from these experiences and continue to refine your instincts.
