Brands, Businesses, and People - Mogul Mom Mindset

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tricia J., CEO of Mogul Mom Mindset, located in Detroit, MI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Mogul Mom Mindset is a boutique consulting agency. We specialize in digital marketing and specifically branding. My amazing clients have these amazing ideas for a business, and they just don't know how to get started. Some of them are in business but need strategic guidance to scale the business or pivot to increase their visibility and, ultimately, their profit.

Tell us about yourself

Hi, my name is Tricia J. I am known as Ask TPJ- The Purpose Doula. This is because I help build businesses, brands, and people. If there's an idea you have, I can help you birth it. I'm a mompreneur of 5, currently living in the metro Detroit area. I received a BA from the University of Phoenix for Business Administration. I also received my MBA with a concentration in Project Management there as well. I earned a certificate in Digital Marketing from Michigan State University. I completed a Women's Entrepreneurship certification through Cornell University, and I am currently a Six Sigma Yellow Belt recipient. I am the founder of Mogul Mom Mindset, a female-powered marketing hub for future mompreneurs who are purpose-driven to profit in their respective niche. I am also a licensed esthetician whose passion is educating beauty bosses in the business department as a coach and mentor in the beauty industry.

I've worked as a project manager or business consultant for the last ten years. Not being afraid to pivot with the new information I've learned has opened many doors for me! I got my start as a stay-at-home mom. I was looking for ways to express myself creatively and make some money on the side. I volunteered in the media department for several years, so it helped me get additional experience. Churches and people across Facebook began to see the work that I was able to do with websites, content creation, and social media marketing, and the rest is history! It lights up my world to help beautiful people. Specifically, women tap into the goldmine within!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the fact that I have helped thousands of men and women live their dreams, make good money, and do it around their personal lives. As a mom of 5, I was always told that I would have to choose between my family and my businesses. I rejected that notion and decided to do business on my own terms. And now I help everyday people, churches, and public figures do the same! #Winning

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The most difficult part of being an entrepreneur is learning how to move with the ebbs and flows of the business cycle. I cannot stress this enough with my coaching clients. Entrepreneurship, ahem, and motherhood forced me to see the value in flexibility.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You will never be 100 percent ready to start your business, do it anyway.
  2. I know this one is controversial for my creative entrepreneurs, but I'm going to say it anyway: Have a business plan created. This will save you so much money overall. Because you will know what target(s) you're aiming for.
  3. If you do a task more than once, write out the steps to systematize it for the future. I know most times when we're starting out, we are wearing 17 hats in the business. One day you won't have to do it all. Setting up these processes now will help you easily onboard employees/contractors, and the bonus is you get these tasks done your way because you wrote out the steps at the beginning like the boss you are!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Don't be afraid to ask! Ask for the sale. Ask for the loan. Ask for the grant. Ask for help! The only way we can ever get to the top is together! If your vision is small enough for you to do everything yourself, you might want to consider expanding. I'm happy to help!
