Become a Magnet for Leads - Momentum Concepts

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Katie Craig, Founder of Momentum Concepts, located in Charlotte, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I founded Momentum Concepts in 2006. We are a design, coaching, and marketing company specializing in helping holistic small business owners combine creativity, mindset, and strategy to achieve their goals. My clients value my design creativity as well as my ability to coach them through the mindset blocks that often arise as they step into their brilliance. They also have deemed me the "technology healer" as I continue to guide them through the ever-changing facets of digital integrations.

Tell us about yourself

I have a deep passion for working with solopreneurs within the holistic community who are intuitive, awakened, and seek to scale their businesses while maintaining their trust in their intuitive guidance. I started out in graphic design for a traditional healthcare marketing company, and while I learned a lot, I craved a deeper connection with my clients. I had a personal passion for holistic medicine, and as I sought to learn more in that space, I naturally gravitated toward helping that audience. I love knowing that I help my clients reach a broader audience with their wisdom and depth of knowledge because of the work we do together. There is a hunger in this world right now for deeper connection, and I believe our holistic healers help feed that deeper need throughout their practices.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I feel my biggest accomplishment is being sought out by several "bucket list" clients in the past few years. When the tables turned from me pitching clients to bigger names finding me... yes, that felt really, really good.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being a business owner can be lonely. Everything is on your shoulders - even if you have a team. There is still a responsibility to keep it all moving and thriving. Very few people understand the strength it takes to be a business owner. Everyone has an opinion, and they seldom match, so having the discernment, empathy, and motivation to show up every day and keep going can be hard to maintain.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, create a community for yourself. A space just for you to nurture yourself, verbally process what you're feeling or struggling with, and bounce ideas around. Find a few business owners who you love and set up a regular time to check in with each other. Second, learn to roll with the punches. You will get all of the feedback - good, bad, scathing, and sweet. Learn what you need from it all, don't get too full of yourself, and let the rest go. Not everything needs to be carried with you. You won't be the right fit for everyone. Third, start your business expecting to do it all at first. When you know how you want something to run, it's so much easier to train your team to help you. So roll up your sleeves and dive in at first. Get a lay of the land. Understand how you want things structured. It will save you time in the long run as you expand your team.
