Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chynna Monforte, Founder of Monforte Studio, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Monforte Studio is a QWOC-owned design studio where aesthetics, advocacy, and audacity meet. We believe in taking up space and impacting change for future generations. Our brands and websites empower you to step confidently into their power and reclaim what's yours. Who are the clients we're talking about? They are non-profits, activists, creative entrepreneurs, small businesses, art galleries, and anyone creating a Radical Legacy.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business as a creative freelancer. As a kid, I learned how to code on Myspace and customize my Neopets guild pages, but I never expected that to turn into multiple passions as an adult. That creativity fuels and motivates me each day, from creating brands that align with our client's values to coding a bomb-out-of-this-world website. As we evolve and begin offering creative content retainers and creative direction for photoshoots, it's that same drive that motivates the expansion of the business!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Launching a mentorship to show other BIPOC creatives paths to entrepreneurship

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Learning how to overcome imposter syndrome and internalized capitalism!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Form a community.
  2. Build a brand.
  3. Be audacious!
