What's your business, and who are your customers?
"The Beauty Marvel" is my working name as a licensed esthetician and lash artist. I offer services such as lash extensions, lash lifts and tints, brow tints, brow lamination, waxing, facials, dermaplaning, chemical peels, tooth gems, and more! My clients are individuals of all ages that want to look and feel their best.
Tell us about yourself
My esthetics journey started in 2018 when I decided to enroll at Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics. I had been working as a dental assistant for fifteen years, but I knew my passion was in makeup and skincare. It was at school that I fell in love with lash extensions. I had the most amazing instructor who greatly influenced why I am still lashing today!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I had only been out of esthetics school for less than a year when the pandemic happened, which set everything back. I couldn't work for almost three months, and it was during that time I came up with the name "The Beauty Marvel." It was tough re-building clientele, enforcing new protocols, and staying motivated when it was slow. It's been two years since I returned to work after the pandemic, and I'm the busiest I've ever been!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Remembering to make time for yourself!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find someone you look up to who is already running their own business and learn much from them. A mentor is the best support system of all.
- Your business cannot survive without your clients; their happiness comes first!
- Don't give up. You are going to have bad days. You are going to compare yourself to others. Everyone's journey is different.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
If it were easy, everyone would do it. It's hard work, but it's worth it!
