Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Suzy Ringdahl, Founder of Moon Child Collective, located in Taos, NM, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a combination of herbal medicine and crystals. My customers are those looking for more support and may be searching for a type of aliment to feel better.

Tell us about yourself

I think my business is an expression of my interests and curiosities as a child. As a child, I would always play outside. I would look at and collect plants, play in the water, and spend hours searching for rocks. This connection that I had and continue to have with the natural world has shaped who I am today. Through my love of nature, I dove deeper. I learned herbal medicine and have come to understand the properties and energies of crystals. It's all energy, and through connecting with and using these energies, we can connect deeper with ourselves and bring our healing into our own hands. I believe we have the power to heal ourselves, and I want to help people to discover that for themselves.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

When people have expressed to me that they have been using a product they bought from me and it has helped them. I have had people express to me how they feel better and more calm after drinking one of my tea blends, for example. Or one time, someone expressed to me they were using a crystal they bought from me to help their sons back, and it was working. Those are my biggest accomplishments, knowing that I have helped others to help themselves.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think there are many things that can feel hard. There is always more to do behind the scenes than I ever thought. When it's just you, it can really add up, or maybe you don't get as much done as you thought you would have. At the same time, when you accomplish something, it feels really good. I have that feeling, wow, I have done all of this by myself.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Honestly, if you are thinking about it or dreaming about it, I say do it. It can be really incredible to have something you created and have it change and grow with you in the form of a business. Tips I would give are:

  1. Take it slow; honestly, there is no rush unless you create deadlines for yourself.
  2. It will take time to get everything started, and it will take time for people to discover you.
  3. Find ways of how you can talk to people about your business in real life. Maybe a farmers market or some type of market where you can be out there meeting people in real life.

Where can people find you and your business?
